About Us

Iqra School is an Islamic state-integrated school located in West Auckland. Our Islamic special character is an integral part of who we are. While applicants do not need to be Muslim, all staff are expected to uphold and role model the values of our school.

We deliver the New Zealand Curriculum alongside our special character programme, which includes Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies taught by specialist teachers. As a member of our staff, you will be expected to support and uphold our school's values and special character as a condition of employment.

Role Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly effective classroom teachers for Years 1, 2, and 3 to join our team from Term 3, 2026. These positions are subject to confirmation of our new building opening.

Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum, excellent pedagogical practice, and a passion for fostering engaging, inclusive, and student centred learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching and learning programmes.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Build positive relationships with students, whānau, colleagues, and the wider school
  community.
• Participate actively in school events, professional learning, and extracurricular
  activities.
• Demonstrate a deep respect for cultural diversity in Aotearoa New Zealand.
• Show commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Meet professional expectations as outlined in Our Code, Our Standards – Ngā Tikanga Matatika, Ngā Paerewa.
• ESOL experience would be advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Education or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Current New Zealand Teacher Registration.
• The ability to work in New Zealand immediately.
• Proven classroom teaching experience, preferably within a New Zealand school
  setting.
• Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to inspiring and supporting students to achieve their full potential.
