Dear Parents and Guardians,
Assalamu Alaikum Everyone.
I hope this message finds you well today. I am delighted to be appointed the new Principal of Iqra School starting Term Three. I have already been so welcomed to the school by wonderful staff and students who have gone out of their way to make sure I am well supported here at Iqra School. I have taught over two decades in a number of roles in educational leadership, including ACG Sunderland School and St. Cuthbert’s College. I have a passion for primary education, a commitment to inclusivity and a dedication to fostering a collaborative learning environment. I have gained invaluable experience raising students’ progress and improving outcomes for students. My values align seamlessly with the mission of Iqra School and I am eager to begin work alongside specialised staff, hard working teachers and wonderful students. The Board of Trustees have enabled me to have a wonderful transition with Dr. Stephen Kendall-Jones, and I am grateful for the smooth handover that has transpired.
It is a privilege and humbling to become part of the Iqra School community amongst the special character that only Iqra School can bring. Thank you so much for all the support already shown me. I am excited to start a new chapter here at Iqra School. Your engagement and cooperation are invaluable to me as we continue to cultivate a nurturing, respectful and enriching environment for all our students. Please pop in and say hello when you are next at Iqra School!
Kind regards,
Leanne Chartrand
Principal

Dear Parents
As part of keeping our school safe we need to be able to respond safely and quickly to a range of emergency situations.
We work alongside an independent company, Harrison Tew®, who specialises in emergency management planning for schools, whose procedures have been successfully implemented in hundreds of schools throughout New Zealand.
As part of maintaining our emergency procedures in our school, specialised training is being conducted with our senior leadership and staff by Harrison Tew®.
The students will also receive information on how to respond in an emergency directed at their respective age groups from either their teacher or Harrison Tew® on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
We will then be conducting a lockdown exercise under the guidance and support of Harrison Tew® on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
During the exercise you will receive a notification from the school, so it is important that your emergency contact details are up to date and correct. The notification will emphasise that this is an exercise/practice and will explain that all updated information will then be posted on the school website.
In a genuine incident, should you become aware of a lockdown or evacuation at the school, can I please ask that you do not attend the school or phone, as we will not be able to respond. Your presence or contact may make it more difficult for us or the emergency services to manage a situation.
We thank you for your support.
Kind regards
Leanne Chartrand

Assalamualaikum,
All parents should have received their child/children's Term 1 Report yesterday (by email).
If you did not receive the report (which sometimes happens due to technical issues from the administration software), please email me the name and class of your child, and I will make sure you receive the report.
Regards,
Anzar Chida
Dear Parents and Caregivers of Year 1 Room 1,
Miss Neetika, the Year 1 Classroom Teacher, returned on Thursday 26.3.26 and the children were excited to see her! Please know that while she is able to return to her duties as Classroom teacher each morning, she continues to need rest in the afternoons so that she can recover from her illness. She will be at school each morning until the end of Term 1.
Parent / teacher interviews will be all held online on 31 March and 1 April. Please know if you have booked a face to face meeting with the teacher, this is now moved to online, at the same time. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. Miss Neetika will send the link to parents in due course so you have it before the day and time of your interview.
We do expect her back on 20 April full time. We know she will recover well and we are supporting her with this. We are working with experienced primary teachers to ensure they work closely with the Primary team and myself and Miss Neetika. This will enable a continued smooth transition of expectations and academic continuity in the Year 1 classroom.
We wish Miss Neetika well in her full recovery and she is aware we all support her and understand your health cannot be overlooked.
I believe your child is in the best care in Year 1 going forward and am looking forward to a continuation of high-quality teaching and learning.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Leanne Chartrand
