Dear Parents and Guardians,
Assalamu Alaikum Everyone.
I hope this message finds you well today. I am delighted to be appointed the new Principal of Iqra School starting Term Three. I have already been so welcomed to the school by wonderful staff and students who have gone out of their way to make sure I am well supported here at Iqra School. I have taught over two decades in a number of roles in educational leadership, including ACG Sunderland School and St. Cuthbert’s College. I have a passion for primary education, a commitment to inclusivity and a dedication to fostering a collaborative learning environment. I have gained invaluable experience raising students’ progress and improving outcomes for students. My values align seamlessly with the mission of Iqra School and I am eager to begin work alongside specialised staff, hard working teachers and wonderful students. The Board of Trustees have enabled me to have a wonderful transition with Dr. Stephen Kendall-Jones, and I am grateful for the smooth handover that has transpired.
It is a privilege and humbling to become part of the Iqra School community amongst the special character that only Iqra School can bring. Thank you so much for all the support already shown me. I am excited to start a new chapter here at Iqra School. Your engagement and cooperation are invaluable to me as we continue to cultivate a nurturing, respectful and enriching environment for all our students. Please pop in and say hello when you are next at Iqra School!
Kind regards,
Leanne Chartrand
Principal

RE. Parent Workshop on Wellbeing: Healthy Active/ Counselling and Modesty and Protection programme
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
There will be a wonderful opportunity to take part in three short workshops.
Date: Tuesday 28 July, week 2 of term 3
Time: 3:45-4:45pm
Where: School hall
The first is hosted by Healthy Active Learning (HAL) and the facilitator, Choiwee Moon, will give tips and ideas to keeping kids healthy through nutrition. Learning about nutrition is essential because it directly dictates how your body functions, heals, and performs daily.
The second is hosted by Areej Arif, our local counsellor. She will explain the counselling process and how to have your child access this great programme at Iqra School. This is important because it equips children with emotional intelligence, active listening skills and the framework needed going through mental health challenges.
The third is hosted by Miss Ghada Smaik, and she will explain the Modesty and Protection programme at Iqra School, and especially for year 6,7,8. This is essential to empower children to understand personal boundaries, safeguard their dignity and cultivate healthy relationships.
Also on the day, Lisa Anisi from Attendance West will be at Iqra School cooking free halal sausages to give to each student (and any parents as long as stocks last). This will happen from 1:30pm and go until 3:45pm. All halal sausages will be delivered to the classrooms from 1:30-3:45pm. If you do not wish your child to have a halal sausage then please let your classroom teacher know.
We hope you jot these three sessions down for Tuesday 28 July, in your diary and don’t miss it.
Kind regards
Leanne Chartrand

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We would like to inform you that your child's Mid-Year School Report has been emailed to you today. Please check your inbox (and your junk/spam folder if you do not see it).
We encourage you to take the time to read through the report and discuss your child's learning progress and achievements with them.
Please also find attached a Statement from the Ministry of Education regarding reporting to parents and whānau. As New Zealand schools transition to the new curriculum, you may notice differences in your child's reported progress or achievement compared with previous years. This reflects changes in curriculum expectations, teaching, and assessment under the new curriculum.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's learning.

Kind regards,
