Our values are an important pillar of our school. They guide our school, our special character, and our staff. The values also inform our teaching and learning programme, and our way of being as a Islamic School within New Zealand. It is through our values that we strive to reach the vision of our school.

Taqwa
 
At Iqra school we understand that Taqwa is a personal journey. It involves sincere intentions, consistency, and a genuine desire to please Allah in all aspects of life.
Demonstrating Taqwa involves internal and external actions and behaviours that reflect one’s commitment to living a righteous and God-conscious life.

At Iqra School, demonstrating Taqwa can look like:

• Fulfilling the obligations of Islam, such as performing the five daily prayers (Salah), fasting during Ramadan (Sawm), giving alms (Zakat).
• Actively pursuing religious education and seeking a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings. This includes studying the Quran, Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad), and the works of Islamic scholars.
• Being truthful, trustworthy, and maintaining high moral standards in all aspects of life.
• Honoring commitments and fulfilling promises are essential aspects of demonstrating taqwa.
• Treating others with respect, empathy, and compassion.
• Helping those in need, being charitable, and extending a helping hand to the less fortunate are actions that exemplify Taqwa.

At Iqra school we define responsibility as being accountable for one’s own actions, duties and obligations. It involves fulfilling our obligations, recognising the consequences of our actions, and taking ownership for our decisions and their outcomes.
