Dear Parents and Guardians,
Assalamu Alaikum Everyone.
I hope this message finds you well today. I am delighted to be appointed the new Principal of Iqra School starting Term Three. I have already been so welcomed to the school by wonderful staff and students who have gone out of their way to make sure I am well supported here at Iqra School. I have taught over two decades in a number of roles in educational leadership, including ACG Sunderland School and St. Cuthbert’s College. I have a passion for primary education, a commitment to inclusivity and a dedication to fostering a collaborative learning environment. I have gained invaluable experience raising students’ progress and improving outcomes for students. My values align seamlessly with the mission of Iqra School and I am eager to begin work alongside specialised staff, hard working teachers and wonderful students. The Board of Trustees have enabled me to have a wonderful transition with Dr. Stephen Kendall-Jones, and I am grateful for the smooth handover that has transpired.
It is a privilege and humbling to become part of the Iqra School community amongst the special character that only Iqra School can bring. Thank you so much for all the support already shown me. I am excited to start a new chapter here at Iqra School. Your engagement and cooperation are invaluable to me as we continue to cultivate a nurturing, respectful and enriching environment for all our students. Please pop in and say hello when you are next at Iqra School!
Kind regards,
Leanne Chartrand
Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It has come to our attention that there is a need to revisit the Cybersafety Agreement signed by all Year 4–8 students at IQRA School. While digital technology is a powerful learning tool, it is essential that our students use it responsibly—both at school and at home.
In Term One, students were explicitly taught about cybersafety and expected online behaviour. They also signed the IQRA Cybersafety Agreement, committing to:
* Keeping comments kind and respectful
* Protecting passwords and private information
* Using devices and chat platforms positively
* Posting responsibly and safely
* Reporting hurtful or unsafe online content
* Respecting the rights of others
Our teachers continue to reinforce these expectations in class. However, we ask for your support in building a culture of safe and respectful digital use at home. Please take time to discuss your child’s online activity, review device history, and talk about how to behave responsibly online.
To assist you, we recommend exploring www.hectorsworld.com a free, child-friendly website that includes:
* Videos on safe online behaviour
* Tips for protecting privacy
* Strategies for dealing with online bullying
* Activities to support conversations about digital safety
* Use of parental controls and filters
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Together, we can foster a safe and respectful digital environment for our students.
Kind regards,
Zainab Farooqi
Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The Parents and Friends Committee would like to hold a cupcake day at Iqra School. This is an opportunity for children Year 1-8 to make 6 cupcakes at home, decorate them and donate them to sell as a Parents & Friends Committee fundraiser. The children would have an opportunity to purchase cupcakes on the day to raise money for our Iqra School children resources.
More Details in the Attachment.
